Siding Replacement Quotes: The Hidden Items to Compare
House wrap, flashing and trim decide how long new siding lasts. Make sure every quote includes them.

Two siding quotes for the same house can differ mainly in work you won't see once the job is done. That hidden work decides whether water stays out.
Removal or overlay?
Removing the old siding lets the crew see and repair what's underneath. Ask each contractor whether they remove it, and their price per sheet for any rotten sheathing they find.
The weather barrier and flashing
Look for house wrap (a water-resistive barrier) over the whole wall, new flashing around windows and doors, and kick-out flashing where a wall meets a roof edge.
Trim, soffit and fascia
Corners, window trim, soffit and fascia can be a big part of the price. Check whether each quote replaces, wraps or leaves them.
Same material and area
Vinyl, insulated vinyl, fiber cement and engineered wood are priced very differently. Make sure all quotes cover the same product and wall area.
Use the quote request template so every contractor prices the same scope.
